Watch Out, Women!
Wednesday, May 23rd, 2007Is it possible that the U.S. Senate might actually try to ratify the United Nations Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination Against Women?
Article 1 forbids discrimination against women in “political, economic, social, cultural, for any other field.” Any other field? I guess that about covers it, I guess.
Article 10 would require the federal government to eliminate “any stereotyped concept of the roles of men and women at all levels and in all forms of education…by the revision of textbooks and…teaching methods.” All forms of education? Classical Christian schools? Sunday Schools? Home schools?
Article 17 creates a “monitoring committee” of “23 experts.” The current committee includes representatives from Cuba, Algeria, Bangladesh, and Zimbabwe. Do the most pampered women in the history of the world – American women – really want their lives monitored by busybodies from these second and third-world countries? This “expert” committee has already recommended the decriminalization of prostitution in China. Now, there’s progress for you!
All I have to say is, Watch out, women!
